Isabirye Godfrey Mitch Jr., popularly known as Kasokoso’s Finest is a spoken word poet, author and storyteller whose poetry touches on subjects ranging from urban survival and politics to heartbreak, identity, often spicing serious themes with humour.

Music Journey:

Mitch began performing poetry professionally in 2018 and has since developed a multilingual approach to his craft, writing and performing in English, Luganda and Lusoga.

Beyond his individual performances, he has also played a role in creating spaces for other voices in Uganda’s spoken word community. 

In 2022, he founded Mitchz Manifest, a spoken word platform. Among its recent innovations are silent poetry shows, hosted at the gardens of the Uganda National Cultural Centre where audiences use wireless headsets to tap into the show.

Mitch is also the poetry coordinator for the Bayimba Foundation.

Beyond studio, he has participated in festivals and cultural events including Bayimba, the Kampala International Theatre Festival, and regional literary engagements in countries such as Kenya, Rwanda and Ghana.

Projects:

His debut project, Endha was released on June 16, 2022. Featuring six tracks blending spoken word poetry and light rap, the project includes tracks like Leka Mbanjulire Endha feat. Keith Mugenyi, Kampala feat. Andereya Baguma, Akambe Akatono feat. Keith Mugenyi, Eh Maama feat. Bonique Lamar and Nkwagala feat. Kenneth Mugabi. The Poetry in Motion EP, released on February 4, 2025 has a track called Mother’s Land where he collaborated with fellow poet Maritza. 

Among his notable performance pieces is Nayanguwa, an ode about the obstacles in life. Many of his other artistic works explore Kampala as a city of contradictions, simultaneously a place of opportunity and immense pressure to survive.

Mitch holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and a Master of Science in Environment and Natural Resources Management from Makerere University. His environmental advocacy has seen him serve as an Earth Hour Uganda ambassador.
