American actor and R&B singer Tyrese Gibson has arrived in Uganda for a three-day visit aimed at promoting the country’s coffee industry, tourism potential and investment opportunities to an international audience.

The movie star touched down at Entebbe International Airport on August 25. Gibson was received by Uganda Tourism Board CEO Juliana Kagwa, Talent Africa Group CEO Aly Allibhai and representatives of the organisations involved in his visit.

Although internationally known for his role as Roman Pearce in the Fast & Furious film franchise and for his career as an R&B musician, his visit follows an invitation involving the Ugandan government and private-sector partners. One of the major activities on his itinerary is the launch of Explore Uganda Coffee Tourism. The initiative brings together the Uganda Tourism Board, Kampala Capital City Authority, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Africa Coffee Park, with the aim of representing Uganda’s coffee industry as more than an export commodity.

During his three-day stay, Gibson is expected to participate in activities designed to give him first-hand experience of Uganda’s coffee and tourism sectors.

His itinerary includes visits connected to Uganda’s coffee-growing industry, including the Africa Coffee Park in Ntungamo, as well as engagements with local coffee farmers.

Gibson’s visit also included a meeting with President Yoweri Museveni, where discussions touched on the creative arts, tourism and the historical and cultural links between Africans and African Americans. The President highlighted opportunities within Uganda’s creative and services sectors and the role international artists can play through their global influence.
